I am a major advocate about the results we receive through spirituality and the healing power of music.I truly believe that music can heal the mind, body and soul. I have been writing a book about this subject for some time now. Its  reassuring to see aggregated momentum building for music therapy in our society.

The benefits of music therapy are at the core of a new film, The Music Never Stopped. The film is based on the true story, “The Last Hippie” by Oliver Sacks. Oliver Sacks is a physician, best-selling author, and professor of neurology and psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center.

“The film is a moving testament not only to the love between a father and his son, but to the miraculous power of music to heal a damaged brain. Remembering music, listening to it or playing it, is entirely in the present, and, while it lasts, it can bridge even the abyss of extreme amnesia or dementia. Music can be more powerful than any drugs.” – Dr. Oliver Sacks

My wife and I were awarded two tickets to the New York première of The Music Never Stopped, which will be shown at the 92nd St Y in New York City on March 16th at 7 p.m. Oliver Sacks, along with Mickey Hart from The Grateful Dead (their music is central to the film) and Jim Kohlberg (the film’s director) will be conducting a Q&A with the audience after the screening.

Proceeds from the film premiere will benefit the groundbreaking research, clinical services and educational programs conducted by the world-renowned Institute for Music and Neurologic Function (IMNF).
